7th Annual Summer Meeting of College and University OmbudspersonsDate & Time: Monday, July 13, 2009, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Location: University Suite, 2nd Floor of Holmes Student Center, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL
Cost: $45The morning session will include opening remarks/introductions, general discussion of ombuds topics of interest as identified by participants, and breakout sessions ("Listening Skills for Ombudspersons," "Avoiding Ombuds Burn-Out," and others TBA). The afternoon session will include case-study breakout sessions, general discussion, evaluation and wrap-up.
Cost: $75
This full-day workshop is designed for those new to the college and university ombuds profession. Workshop topics will include history of the profession, professional ethics and standards of practice, marketing the office, working with consultees, appropriate record-keeping, addressing trends and patterns of problematic behavior, relationships with other campus entities, and additional topics identified by participants
