SHRM 103 Online Interactive SHRM-CP®/SHRM-SCP® Certification Prep

Participants will receive e-mail notice concerning scheduling a technology check with the technology support staff prior to the start of class.  

 

Distribution of Course Materials: The registration fee is inclusive of the SHRM Learning System® print materials and online study resources and access to the NIU Blackboard Community.  Materials for evening classes will be distributed to students at the first class session (Orientation).  Materials for students enrolling in the Saturday and  Online Courses will be shipped via UPS 10 days prior to the class start.  Online access for all courses will not be available until the class start date.  Students registering within 5 days of class start may not have immediate access to Blackboard and SHRM LS online resources.

 

Admission and Eligibility of SHRM-CP™ and SHRM-SCP™ Exam Candidates:  It is the candidate's responsibility to confirm they meet the  candidate eligibility requirements set forth by the SHRM Certification Commission (www.shrmcertification.org) prior to enrolling in this course.  Registration for the exam must be completed with the SHRM Certification Commission by due dates noted on the SHRM website.  NIU is a licensed provider of SHRM Learning System® courses but has no authority concerning the eligibility, application and admission of candidates, examination processes and award of the SHRM-CP® and SHRM-SCP® credentials.

 

Course Description: The SHRM Learning System® for SHRM-CP® and SHRM-SCP® Certification Preparation Course is designed  for candidates preparing for the professional HR certification exams administered by the SHRM Certification Commission.   The SHRM-Certified Professional (CP)®and SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SCP)® credentials focus on the practical, real-life skills, behavioral competencies and knowledge HR professionals need to excel in their career and are the new standard in HR certification.  Topics covered in this program include: HR Competencies (Relationship Management, Consultation, Leadership & Navigation, Communication, Global & Cultural Effectiveness, Ethical Practice, Business Acumen and Critical Evaluation); People (Strategic Planning; Talent Acquisition; Employee Engagement & Retention; Learning & Development, Total Rewards); Organization (Structure of the HR Function, Organizational Effectiveness & Development, Workforce Management, Employee Relations, Technology Management); Workplace (HR in the Global Context, Diversity & Inclusion, Risk Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, and U.S. Employment Law & Regulations).   HR Professionals and Business Leaders who are not exam candidates but want an in-depth understanding of human resources may also enroll in this program.  All students will be enrolled in a NIU Blackboard Community.  All courses require completion of assigned online practice exams as part of the program.  Online access will not be available to students until class start.  Registrations within 5 days of class start may experience a brief delay in access to the Blackboard Community and online study resources.

 

12 Week Interactive Online Course: This12 week course combines independent study with weekly web meetings via Adobe Connect.  A link to a pre-recorded course Orientation session will be provided with course materials. Required activities for online courses include completion of assigned readings, discussion board assignments,  review of audio-narrated slideshow presentations,  online examinations and participation in the web based Adobe Connect sessions.  Course materials will be shipped to students via UPS 8-10 days prior to the class start.  Online and Blackboard access may not be available until the class start date.

 

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT PLAN TERMS: This option is only available for registrations completed 30 or more days in advance of the course start date. Payment must be made using a credit card. 25% payable at time of registration.  Outstanding balance will be charged to credit card on file 14 days (09/08/20) prior to class start.  Payments may be made at any time prior to final due date by contacting Outreach Registration at (800) 345-9472.  Payment in full must be confirmed before distribution of any course materials to students.

 

IL VETERANS AND IL NATIONAL GUARD GRANT PROGRAMS:   This program is not eligible for funding under the IL Veterans and IL National Guard Grants.  IVG and ING grants apply only to those programs assessing tuition and mandatory fees.  NIU Outreach is licensed to deliver this program by the sponsoring professional organization. The registration fee for this program is not based on tuition and fees and includes course materials, licensing fees, catering services and instructional costs not covered by the IVG/ING grants.  

 

WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) FUNDING: Certain unemployed or underemployed Illinois candidates may be eligible for funding for this program under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.  Visit the website https://www:illinoisworknet.com/WIOA and ask the question "How do I go about accessing my Individual Training Account (ITA)?"

Cancellation Policy: A cancellation penalty of $350 will apply to cancellation  requests received at least 10 days prior to the start of class and prior to distribution of materials.   No refunds will be issued for cancellations within 10 days of class start or after distribution of materials to students.  All cancellation requests must be in writing to: Outreachregistration@niu.edu or fax (815) 753-6900.  NIU Outreach reserves the right to cancel courses within 10 days of class start if enrollments are not sufficient to cover costs of program delivery. In the event of a course cancellation, NIU will notify students to make accommodation for enrollment in another program.
