PMP 102 Interactive Online CAPM® and PMP® Certification Preparation Course


Online:   Classes meet via Adobe Connect web meetings.


Dates & Times:  Class meets Wednesdays for 7 weeks, October 7 - November 18, 2020, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.


Online courses are synchronous instructor-led courses meeting via Adobe Connect web meetings.   Participants will receive e-mail notice concerning scheduling a technology check with the technology support staff prior to the start of class.  


Course Fees and Materials: The registration fee is inclusive of CERTWISE™ Learning System for PMP® Exam Preparation course materials and online resources, current edition of the PMBOK® Guide, continental breakfast, lunch and break service for Saturday and Intensive programs.   Books will be shipped to students via UPS 10 days prior to the class start.   Participants will receive an e-mail communication from Holmes Corp with instructions for accessing the online component a few days prior to the class start.  If not received within 48 hours of class start, check  your spam filter first, and contact Jennifer Kopecky or phone (815) 753-0771 for assistance if you don't find it there. Students registering within 5 days of class start may not have immediate access to the online resources.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT PLAN TERMS: Payment must be made using a credit card.  25% of the total registration fee is payable at the time of registration. Payments may be made at any time up until the final due date (14 days prior to class start) (09/23/20) by contacting Outreach Registration or phone (800) 345-9472.  Any outstanding balance will be charged to the credit card on file 14 days prior to class start


Course Description:  The Project Management for CAPM® and PMP® Certification Prep Course offered by Northern Illinois University is designed for candidates preparing for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® and Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification exams administered by the Project Management Institute® (PMI®).  The body of knowledge content covered in this program is appropriate to both project management exams but content covered is more comprehensive than what is tested on the CAPM® exam and emphasizes detailed content most relevant to the PMP® examinations.   This comprehensive program of study is aligned with the updated 6th Edition PMBOK® Guide and new exam guidelines effective JANUARY 2021.  Participants in these courses should plan to test after January 2, 2021. The program utilizes a blended approach to learning and requires participation in interactive classroom sessions (face-to-face or synchronous interactive online sessions depending on course format), blended with independent study and completion of online learning activities and practice exams. This program teaches to the five project management performance domains (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing Projects) and ten knowledge areas defined by the profession (Integration Management, Scope Management, Schedule Management, Cost Management, Quality Management, Resource Management, Communication Management, Risk Management, Procurement Management, and Stakeholder Management) .  Attention is also given to the framework's 49 processes and new content covering key concepts, trends and emerging practices, and agile methodologies as well as greater emphasis on the strategic and business knowledge aspects of project management and the PMI® talent triangle.  This course satisfies the 23 hr. education requirement for CAPM® candidates and the 35 hour educational requirement for PMP® candidates noted in the candidate eligibility requirements    This course may also be useful as professional development for project managers who do not intend to sit for the certification examinations.


Admission and Eligibility of CAPM(r) and PMP(r) Exam Candidates: It is the candidate's responsibility to confirm they meet the candidate eligibility requirements set forth by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) prior to enrolling in this course.  Registration for the CAPM® and PMP® exam must be completed with the Project Management Institute.  Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® candidate eligibility requirements are as follows: A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's degree or the global equivalent) with 1500 hours of project experience OR 23 hours of project management education prior to sitting for the exam. Project Management Professional (PMP)® candidate eligibility requirements are as follows: A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's degree, or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7500 hours leading and directing projects, and 35 hours of project management education OR a four-year degree (bachelor's degree or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4500 hours leading and directing projects, and 35 hours of project management education.


Attendance Requirements: Candidates for the PMP® examination must attend all class sessions to meet the  35 hour educational requirement established by the Project Management Institute.  If a class is missed, students will be required to make it up at a future session.  Attendance requirements apply to all course formats.

IL VETERANS AND IL NATIONAL GUARD GRANT PROGRAMS: This program is not eligible for funding under the IL Veterans and IL National Guard Grants. IVG and ING grants apply only to those programs assessing tuition and mandatory fees. NIU Outreach is licensed to deliver this program by the sponsoring professional organization. The registration fee for this program is not based on tuition and fees and includes course materials, licensing fees, catering services and instructional costs not covered by the IVG/ING grants.


WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA) FUNDING: Certain Illinois candidates may be eligible for funding for this program in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act The question to be asked is "How do I go about accessing my Individual Training Account (ITA)?"

Cancellation Policy: Any cancellation requests received at least 14 days prior to class start and shipment of materials will be assessed a $300 cancellation fee.  No refunds will be issued for cancellations within 14 days of class start.   All cancellation requests must be in writing to: or fax (815) 753-6900.  NIU Outreach reserves the right to cancel courses within 14 days of class start if enrollments are not sufficient to cover costs of program delivery. In the event this should occur, participants will be provided options for transferring to an alternate course offering without penalty or obtaining a refund of registration fees that has been paid to NIU.
